A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE
CROP SCIENCE SOCIETY OF CHINA

The Society is an academic and social association for public welfare comprised of crop scientists, technologists and teaching staff. It was established as the second-class academic association of the agronomy society of China on December 20 in 1961, and became the national academic society in 1984. As a member of Science and Technology Association of China (hereinafter referred to as STAC), it functions as the bridge between the government and crop science professionals. It also assists in developing crop production technologies and science.

General provisions

-Abide by the national constitution, law, regulations and policies, conform to social morality and order

- boost crop science

-Ignite the spirit of devotion, innovation, practice and collaboration

-Unite the majority of the crop scientists to facilitate the popularization and development of science and technology

-Assist the growth and improvement of the talents

-Contribute to the national crop production and realization of the agricultural modernization

Publications

·Acta Agronomica Sinica

A monthly, openly published journal with the highest research level of crop science in China. Mainly carries academic papers, specific subjects, brief reports and reviews, with respect to crop breeding and genetics, cultivation, physiology, biochemistry, ecology, germplasm resources, cereal chemistry, conservation and processing, agrometeorology, biotechnology and mathematics, involved in Triticeae crops, rice, maize, soybean, fibre crops, oil crops, medicine crops, and other food grains crops and economic crops.

·Crops Agronomica Sinica

A bimonthly, openly published journal in China. Originated from 1985, sponsored by CSSC and CAAS. It mainly carries the articles of crop research achievements, technologic papers and agricultural technological extension. Its columns is involved in specific reviews, research bulletins, variety breeding and seed production, cultivation technology, fruit, vegetable and horticulture, soil and fertilizer, plant protection, variety information, etc.

·CSSC Newsletters

 Aperiodically and not openly published. For work and academic exchange for members, branches and provincial societies of CSSC.

Membership

Individual membership: Suitable to those who are engaged in the field of crop science, with a bachelor degree or equivalent level.

Corporate membership: Suitable to those bodies engaged in crop production, related with the business of the society, and having a certain number of scientific and technological staffs.

Foreign membership: Foreign crop scientists or corporate bodies of related field can apply to join as foreign members or foreign corporate members.

Senior membership: Experts involved in or related to agriculture, with a vice senior qualification (or equivalent), may apply to join as a senior member.

Student membership: Suitable to postgraduates, junior and senior undergraduates in agricultural colleges and research institutes.

Organization

The Council members are elected through vote of representatives taking place once every 5 years. The present Council ( 8th ) includes:
