Crop Science Society of China
Crop
Science Society of China (CSSC), established in Dec. 1961, has
13 divisions and 30 provincial branches with more than 20, 000
members. It is located in the Institute of Crop Breeding and
Cultivation, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. CSSC has
been under the leadership of Science and Technology Association
of China, approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and
registered as an academic society.
Endowed
with the spirit of devotion, innovation, practice, and
collaboration, CSSC commits itself to the advance, improvement
and popularity of crop science in China through scientific
exchange, technology transfer and international collaboration.
In order to make contribution to economic development, and
establish close linkage between science/technology and economy,
CSSC’s activities include organizing domestic and
international/regional conference/workshop at various levels,
providing consultancy to agricultural industry, and
editing/publishing scientific journal or monograph. It is also
actively involved in west China development, poverty alleviation
program, and agricultural extension. Recommendation and
suggestion are usually released through CSSC to help the
government in making decision on science or technology
development and marketing. International collaboration is
enhanced mainly through the organization of international
conference in China, reciprocal visits of foreign scholar and
Chinese scientist, and participation of international symposium.
CSSC is also actively engaged in promoting distinguished
scientists and has successfully nominated several candidate
members for the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese
Academy of Engineering, and some candidates for the outstanding
young scientist award. Two journals, Acta Agronomica Sinica and
Crops are edited and published by CSSC.
